This EASA approved modification covers upgrade of Rockwell Collins SAT-6100/-2100 single channel Satcom Swift64 to single channel Swift Broadband with Satcom Direct SDR Wi-Fi Router installation.
Affordable and reliable upgrade.
The Satcom Direct Router (SDR) goes far beyond connecting you to onboard systems. Make and receive calls, text, email, connect to the internet and stream data, using a combination of the best technology and services available, whenever and wherever you fly.
The SDR is always working to keep you connected on the ground or in the air, anywhere in the world. The router automatically selects the best connection available and keeps it updated continuously. It’s oaded with services that compress and cache data, allowing maximum bandwidth for the transmission of information. The SDR is so smart, that when it senses the aircraft is on the ground, it switches from a satellite network to 3G service for greater efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Originally installed WLU-2100 Wi-Fi access point is replaced by Satcom Direct SDR Wi-Fi Router, which bring all exceptional add-on communication features and services provided by Satcom Direct, as follow below:
> possibility to use passengers' own smartphones for voice communication during flight (Satcom Direct AeroV)
> multiple Wi-Fi Access points (SSID) for VIP and Guests on-board with different service profiles
> the latest technology in data compression and acceleration (Satcom Direct Aero XR)
> usage of 3G/4G Mobile Internet connection while on-ground to reduce Satcom costs with significantly higher communication speed
Satcom Swift Broadband upgrade consists of:
- Replacement of existing DLNA Type A by DLNA Type F
- Replacement of existing SRT-2100 by Swift BB upgraded SRT-2100B
- Replacement of existing HST-2110 by Swift BB upgraded HST-2110B
- Installation of one new high-speed configuration module HCM
- Replacement of existing CTU Aerocom 3000 by ISDN/Rev.T upgraded CTU
- Necessary modification on coax and wires
- Rockwell Collins cabin CES/CMS software upgrade (specific for every aircraft)
AMT-50 Antenna system is completely re-used, except of new DLNA Type F
This RUAG EASA Approved modification (EASA Minor Change) is automatically validated by US FAA and Canadian TCCA in accordance with existing EASA-FAA and EASA-TCCA bilateral agreements. Refer to "Validations".
