In anticipation of the EASA (EU) 2024/590 regulation mandating the replacement of halon extinguishers by 31 December 2025, PMV Engineering has secured a new STC covering ATR42 and ATR72 aircraft.
Installation of Halon Free fire extinguishers to comply with a mandate raised in EASA Regulation (EU) 2024/590.
The solution features Umlaut extinguishers using Halotron BrX ®, an environmentally friendly agent that complies with the Montreal Protocol by replacing ozone-depleting halon—without compromising aircraft safety or performance.
We delivers a cost-effective, compliant, and future-ready upgrade, enabling ATR operators to make a smooth transition toward a greener and safer aviation.
This STC replaces current halon extinguishers with halon free items aboard ATR42 and ATR72 not equipped with the Armonia cabin. It also permits to adapt the aft cargo compartment extinguishing system to the new extinguishers.
ATR MOD 06355 (Service bulletin ATR42-26-0028 or ATR72-26-1021) must be embodied on A/C.
Extension to aircraft with Armonia cabin is underway and will be added to the STC.
